Dr Ahmed Jamsheed Mohamed
WHO Representative to Bangladesh
Since 1972, WHO has supported the Government of the
People’s Republic of Bangladesh to strengthen the country’s health system and
improve health and well-being for all.
WHO provides technical expertise to support the
development of evidence-based policies, strategies, guidelines and standards;
strengthen the skills and capacity of health professionals and institutions;
improve the quality and delivery of health services; and advance health
research, data and evidence. WHO also monitors health trends and emerging
risks, helping inform national priorities and guide effective public health
action.
Through this longstanding partnership, WHO supports Bangladesh to build a
stronger, more equitable and resilient health system – one that can meet
today’s health needs while preparing for the challenges of the future.
Guided by the WHO Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) 2020–2025 (Extended till 2026) and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2022–2026 (Extended till 2027), WHO Bangladesh currently focuses on four strategic health priorities:
