Human health is inseparable from the health of animals and the environment. From pandemics to antimicrobial resistance and climate-driven health threats, the risks we face are interconnected.

One Health is a proven, cost‑effective approach that brings together the human, animal and environmental health sectors to prevent crises before they start.

As the first-ever high-level One Health Summit takes place in Lyon on 5-7 April, WHO Regional Director Dr Saia Ma'u Piukala urges WHO Member States to make the investments necessary to take One Health from slogan to reality – for once and for all.
