WHO pharmaceuticals newsletter: 2026, No. 2

The WHO Pharmaceuticals Newsletter provides the latest information on the safety of medicinal products and regulatory actions taken by authorities around the world. It is based on communications received from national pharmacovigilance centres, specialized bulletins and journals, and partners in WHO. This issue covers 32 regulatory and safety updates reported between March and June 2026, including information on antiepileptic drugs, opioids, valproate, tranexamic acid and the chikungunya vaccine.

The issue includes three feature articles. The first describes resolution WHA79.11 on pharmacovigilance, adopted by the Seventy-ninth World Health Assembly in May 2026. The second presents recommendations from the fifth joint meeting of the WHO Advisory Committee on Safety of Medicinal Products (ACSoMP) and the WHO Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GACVS), held on 23–26 June 2026. The third presents recommendations from the 43rd Meeting of Members of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring, held in Cairo, Egypt, on 28–29 October 2025.
